Hey guys, let's get straight to it and go to Colossians 2:9-13
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Yesterday we were discussing how that the operation of faith is outlined in the scripture above, however before one can see the stages clearly the scriptures above must be rearranged in the order of the operation.
The stages can be seen if we read in the following order 13 (the first half), 11, 9, 10, 12, 13 (the second half). Let's begin with the first half of verse 13.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh...
This scripture begins by showing us that before Christ came into our lives, we were dead in sins. There is a growing false doctrine out there that says that no one was ever born in sin. However, this is error.
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. - Romans 5:12-14
The scriptures are clear. Adam's sin caused sin to enter the world through his seed. All were thus born in sin and shaped in iniquity. This is the mystery of iniquity that Paul was speaking of.
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. - 2 Thessalonians 2:7
Colossians 1:27, teaches that the mystery of Christ is Christ in us the hope of glory. Thus the mystery of iniquity is the devil (the spirit of iniquity) in you unto condemnation. This is only true for those who do not have the Holy Spirit. Paul, teaches the depth of the operation of the mystery of iniquity in Romans 7.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. - Romans 7:20-23
Adam's sin caused all human vessels to be shaped in iniquty. All vessels were defiled. This is why it was imperative that Jesus come and destroy the works satan produced in the flesh. No one could please God. Our bodies were the temples of the devil, and we did his lusts.
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do... - John 8:44
THE PRESENCE OF THE SPIRIT OF INIQUITY IN THE FLESH IS WHY SALVATION IS NECESSARY. Anyone who preaches against the 'Born in Sin' doctrine, (which says that those who are born of unsaved parents will be born in sin), is an antichrist spirit. Why? because, where there is no captivity there is no need for a Savior. There would be no need for Christ to come.
Thus, the scriptures are irrefutable.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh...
Let me close this sunrise by defining certain terms.
DEAD - Separation from God.
UNCIRCUMCISION OF YOUR FLESH - This term used in the verse above is not speaking about the circumcision of the male foreskin. He is rather speaking of a spiritual circumcision that happens when Christ comes in. We will look at this further as we continue learning the operation of Faith!
