Today, some are looking for the answer to a frequently asked question “What is Love?”. What first comes to mind? Was it something to the effect of an intense feeling of deep affection?
Today you are being invited to expand your perception and consider for a moment that love is far wider than a feeling or an emotion but instead it is an actual being. His motives, methods, and perspectives are not limited to this world’s ever-changing rules, standards and conditions. This being IS love and the only version of it. Today we know Him as the one, true God, our saviour, creator, and just about everything we need Him to be. In His own words “I AM”. (Exodus 3:14)
While reading this I want you to remember what we have already learned in this series of the two Kingdoms that exist in this world: those who are in God; made one with Him by salvation and those who are still captive to the spirit of iniquity. We must understand that these two kingdoms have nothing in common and nobody can be in both at once.
So then if God is love, He is the only one who can truly tell us what love is. A key characteristic of love is its infinite capacity to love all, at all times without caring if that love will ever be returned. In fact, Jesus brought it home when He defined true love as the ability to love your enemies. That love for an enemy is not just enough to tolerate, but to be willing to give up your life for that person to live.
Matthew 5: 43-44
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
This is the power of love, it overcomes evil with good. And doing so it never fails. Contrary to this world’s beliefs, the purpose of love is not to make us feel good because it caters to the needs of the flesh and its need for acceptance or belonging. Love points people to God. It causes change. It draws you to want to love God back.
Prepare for that love to be tested and proven. If it’s the real thing you will watch and see that nothing that comes to oppose love can cause it to fade or stop. Love is God.
