2 Peter 1:20-21: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The Old Testament, though authored by people, testifies to the divine inspiration of these writers. In actuality, many of them did not fully comprehend the spiritual concepts coded into their writings. These were natural men who could not fully grasp the depth of what they were prophesying. While the Old Testament portrays the genealogy, events and prophecies concerning the Jewish people, secretly, God was weaving a narrative about His son, Jesus.

John 5:39: Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

The Old Testament scriptures all point to Jesus, who was not explicitly named in the Old Testament but referred to by many names, including “The Messiah”. This coming Messiah later arrived, fulfilling the scriptures' promises through great exploits. As a result, the New Testament is dedicated to shedding light on this Messiah, documenting His extraordinary works, and His continued presence in the Church, which is the Body of Christ. The writers of the New Testament were gifted by the indwelling Holy Ghost to unveil the secrets hidden within the Old Testament and reveal the spiritual concepts that God had kept concealed since the foundation of the world.

Join me on this journey through the New Testament, as we explore the profound revelations it holds.

REFERENCE SCRIPTURES

The Old Testament writers did not fully understand the things they were writing:

Ephesians 3:4-5: 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

Isaiah 53:8

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

1 Corinthians 2:7-14: 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
