The Operation of Faith

Updated: Jun 25, 2019

Colossians 2 is an absolutely powerful scripture that must be perceived through the eyes of the Spirit. It is plainly teaching the mystery of Christ, which is a necessary foundation if we are to move on.

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: - Colossians 1:27

The mystery of Christ speaks to the fact that Christ is in us and He is the hope of glory. We have been learning that the Spirit of Christ is our faith. The Holy Ghost is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. He is the hope of glory. Faith is the Holy Ghost.

From here on out be keen as you read these writings to remember that there are two different operations of faith. Faith as belief for the unbeliever, and faith as the Holy Ghost for the son of God. Therefore, as you read the scriptures be keen to tell the difference. However, I will spend these sunrises to further expound on faith as the Holy Ghost.

The scripture teaches us that there is an operation of faith.

Colossians 2:8-13 teaches the operation of faith.

8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

This is certainly a lot to swallow. So we shall take it slowly. Firstly one must recognize that the operation of Faith is the process of salvation. Faith is the Holy Ghost, therefore the operation of Faith shows the process by which one receives the Holy Ghost, and what the Holy Ghost does in the individual thereafter. This is not to say that the reception of the Holy Ghost take a long time. No! Once a heart is ready for God, and believes the gospel, God gives them the Holy Ghost, and in an instant they are filled. However, God does an operation that is so fast one cannot perceive it with the natural eye.

We will go through Col 2:8-13 this week so that we can have a foundation of the operation of faith to move forward.

Today let us praise God for the wonderful work of salvation by which He has saved us! Hallelujah.
