The Operation of Faith: The Eternal Spirit

Ensure you read Yesterday's Sunrise

Let's get back on track to the operation of faith as outlined by Colossians 2:9-13. Remember we have rearranged the order to fit the chronological process of the operation of faith. See below.

Colossians 2 -verse 13 (the first half), 11, 10, 12, 13 (the second half), 9.

So far we have covered:

1. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh (verse 13 first half) - Before we received the Holy Ghost, we were all dead in sins and held captive by the spirit of iniquity. We needed deliverance from our body of sin.

2. In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ (Col 2:11) - The law of sin and death defiled the flesh. It caused it to be a body of sin. Thus for us to be saved, (in a split second) God had to remove our souls from that body. He removed our souls from the flesh and circumcised (cut away) the sin from the flesh.

3. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: (Col 2:10)- The soul is placed in the Holy Spirit, thus creating a new creature - a son of God.

Let's go to the next stage

Colossians 2:12

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Notice that the above scripture mentions that we were buried with Jesus by baptism. The baptism here is not referring to a baptism in water, rather it is speaking of a baptism into the Holy Ghost. In other words it is speaking of stage 3 - when the soul is placed in the Holy Ghost. Notice here how the soul is said to be buried with Christ by our baptism into the Holy Ghost. What exactly does this mean though?

Romans 6:3

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

This scripture is a bit clearer; but it is saying the same thing. It is saying that when our souls have been baptised into the Spirit of Jesus Christ, we also were baptised into His death. How is this so?

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ETERNAL.

There is no time or distance in the Spirit. When you receive the Holy Spirit, it places you everywhere the Holy Spirit, was, is and will be. Thus, while Christ was dying on the cross, you were present in Him, through the Holy Spirit. This is the divine atonement (Rom 5:11).

This is much to consume in one sunrise, so see you tomorrow as we continue to peer into the operation of faith and the divine atonement!
