The conscience is a homing device that guides us to a walk in the Spirit. However, many don’t realize just how important the conscience is.
Romans 14:22-23 KJVS
[22] Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. [23] And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
I was once in a situation that caused me to override my conscience. In fact, it was counsel I had received from people I looked up to in the faith. However, when I attempted to do what they told me to, I experienced doubt. In my heart, I doubted whether it was truly the intent of God for me to do that thing. Nevertheless, because of who the counsel came from, I ignored my conscience and trained myself against its conviction.
it wasn’t long before my conscience went dead. I had lost myself, and it was not until the Lord told me, to return to what I was before the counsel that I had finally seen what I had done.
Protect your righteousness. Trust your Spirit. It is guiding you into righteousness.
