*Love and Prayer*
🔶Those who truly love will find it easy to pray, and those who pray with pure hearts will increase and abound in love for both God and man. It is a fact that fervent and effectual prayer flows easily out of a heart of love.
Jesus said:
📷But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, *and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:* for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
(Matthew 5:44-46 KJV)
🔶 Here, God instructs us as His children to pray for them that despitefully use us.
As we feel compassion towards those that despise us and pray for them in love, God can set them free from the powers of darkness that uses them to sin against us and others..
Can you imagine if more Christians took this seriously and prayed with a pure heart for their offenders?
Prayers that are motivated by God's love in us are unstoppable in their quest to fulfill the will and purpose of God.
🔶Let us look at how the early Apostles prayed in the face of persecution. It was with a heart of love that they prayed for those who opposed them.
"And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word
(Acts 4:29 KJV).
🔶We also saw this clearly as young Stephen, the first Christian Martyr, prayed for his killers which included Saul, who later became Apostle Paul.
May we be those whose prayer lives pour out the love of God for everyone including our enemies. It is then that we will see and witness the amazing power of God's love and the wonderful works that He chooses to reveal in this time!
*Reflect & Respond*
Is there someone you have made an enemy, or who has made him/ herself an enemy to you, and that you have found it difficult to love and pray for?
Today is the day to change this. You can by the power of the Holy Spirit, wholeheartedly forgive them. It is then time to earnestly PRAY for them as the Lord leads you to.
Do it today!
