We spoke in our 2nd episode about the wrapping paper that God hid his gift Jesus Christ in – holy flesh. When Jesus was walking the earth there was no one else on the earth with holy flesh. What do I mean by holy flesh? Well, let us take a look at what sinful flesh looks like.
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. – Romans 7:15-18
Those without the Holy Spirit are wrapped in sinful flesh. The spirit of iniquity dwells within their bodies and he is a strongman within them. They are able to discern the righteousness of God’s commandments and to consent that it is good; however, they can't and will never find the power to perform it.
Why is this so? Because Satan prevents them from doing righteousness. He produces a law of sin and death in the flesh, that overpowers the will of the soul. The law of gravity says, what goes up must come down, however, the law of sin and death says, once the spirit of iniquity resides in the flesh, the person will always be held captive to sin. Satan will produce passions, desires, unquenchable urges, thoughts, feelings, and emotions within the individual, and that individual will simply have to succumb to the will of the enemy.
However, praise God for His gift Jesus Christ! Who came to take away the sins that are in the flesh. He can totally set the captive free. When He comes, He removes all the law of sin and death, the spirit of iniquity, and all the stain of sin from the flesh! He spiritually circumcises sin from the flesh, then makes your body His home so that sin never has to return! He Himself comes to live within you and starts a new law in you – the Law of the Spirit of life! Oh, what great love the Father has given us, that he would grant to us the gift of FREEDOM!
If you need the Holy Spirit, all you have to do is believe on Jesus Christ! Believe that His love is strong enough to know everything about you, and still love you! Know that He is anxious to rescue you from sin, but you must desire freedom. You must hate everything about sin, and strongly desire to be holy! Once you desire God and believe with all your heart that He will free you, He will!
Father, we thank you for your precious gift of the Holy Spirit! We ask that you save whoever reads this and desires your Spirit. Let them see your simplicity and teach them of you! Set them free. Strengthen those that are already yours. We need you every day Lord, you are able to keep us.
