The Operation of Faith: Complete in Christ

Ensure you read Yesterday's Sunrise

Ok we can finally get back to the actual operation of faith as outlined in Col 2:9-13. Remember we had to rearrange the verses to actually show in chronological order the stages of the operation of faith - [verse 13 (the first half), 11, 10, 12, 13 (the second half), 9]

So far we have covered:

1. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh (verse 13 first half) - Before we received the Holy Ghost, we were all dead in sins and held captive by the spirit of iniquity. We needed deliverance from our body of sin.

2. In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ (Col 2:11) - The law of sin and death defiled the flesh. It caused it to be a body of sin. Thus for us to be saved, (in a split second) God had to remove our souls from that body. He removed our souls from the flesh and circumcised (cut away) the sin from the flesh.

The body without the spirit is dead (Jam 2:26), and the soul without a body has no expression (Gen 2:7). Thus, after stage two, both body and soul are dead. Keep in mind that all this happens the moment we receive the Holy Ghost. All these stages happen instantaneously.

Let's go on to the next step.

Colossians 2:10

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

The next step is for us to be made complete in Christ. In other words, the soul that was taken out of the flesh is then placed in Christ. When the soul is placed in Christ, it creates a new creature.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

If any soul be placed in Christ, He is transformed into a new creature. This causes a transition. The soul is no longer natural or human, instead it is a quickening spirit (1 Cor 15:45).

The placing of the soul in Christ is the born again experience. The circumcision of the flesh caused the old man to die a literal death. However, we are raised from the dead in Christ.

Titus 3:5

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

When the soul was placed in Christ there was a regeneration that occurred. Even as God took air (the breath of life) to make Adam's soul (Job 7:7, 1 Cor 15:47), God has now used the Holy Ghost as the substance that makes up our inner spiritual aspect. When the soul came in contact with the Holy Ghost an instant regeneration happened. It was made something different all together. It was made a son of God.

St. John 3:6

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Being placed in the Spirit caused us to be born of the Spirit. It is the creation of one new creature. Truly we are one in Christ, and complete in Him.

1 Corinthians 6:17

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

We are one with God; we are new creatures! Stay tuned and we will further explain the operation of Faith.
