Luke 22:31-32
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
Let's talk about sifting. Sifting removes unwanted debris from wheat. However, it happens in stages.
This is quite depictive of satan's strategy to sift us. Satan uses trials as an attempt to prove to God that you truly are debris. He does not know your end, so all he can do is keep trying you until the day you die. Every trial forces you through a strainer, if you are wheat, you will be able to endure the shaking and be strained of debris, however, if you are garbage, you will not be able to endure. You will be gathered and burned.
However, the devil is persistent. He will come with thoughts, situations, perspectives, people, discouragement, you name it to get us to fall away. He uses these to affect our view of God and His message of oneness with Him. Thus, when your faith fails, you succumb to whatever trial and disregard who God says you are. However, all satan can do is shake your environment, but with every trial there is a way of escape.
Therefore, do not think it strange when fiery trials come to try you, because the trying of your faith is more precious than gold. It is important to endure righteously in a trial. If you do not, you are proving to principalities, powers and to God, that you are fit to be discarded.
Be steadfast in the faith.
