Abiding in the Vine

ABIDING IN THE VINE

John 15:1-2

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Imagine a gardener with intents to grow an apple tree and a few months after planting the seed, he realized a 6-inch stem growing up from the ground. His responsibility is to ensure that the stem is being fed with a suitable amount of water and sunlight because he knows that the vine is the way by which branches will be produced, and with branches comes fruits. In this case, the true vine is Christ Jesus.

If you should take a quick look on the life of Christ when he was here on earth, he was always with the 12 disciples, even as a vine with its branches. I remember in the scripture when one of the disciples said unto Jesus, "Suffer me first to go and bury my Father." Jesus' response was "Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead" Jesus was a moving and growing ministry. We are the branches of Christ Jesus the vine, however, something that is good to examine is, if you are moving with Christ. Does your life minister to the persons around you?

Listen to the confidence in Jesus’ tone “I am the true vine.” This means if you remain in Him, by submitting, agreeing, and obeying whatever He has commanded, He guarantees that we will produce many fruits. Jesus submitted to his Father, the gardener, and because of that, he was able to bear fruits. The 120 that got filled with the Holy Ghost in the upper room, on the day of Pentecost, are evidence of the fruit of Jesus' ministry; and so are we. So whatever situation, circumstances or relationship you’re going through, just abide in the true vine, remain in the Spirit and He will fill you with His Joy.
