We are Believers

The Lord has been faithful to show us that Faith for the sons of God is the Holy Ghost. Does this mean that God has done away with the belief? No He has not, however we have to see that there are two operations of faith.

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: - Romans 3:22

The faith of Jesus Christ (the Holy Ghost) is given to those who believe! Thus, those who do not have the Holy Ghost must come with their faith (belief) that they may receive the faith of God. As we mentioned on Monday this is moving from faith to faith. The scripture bears witness of this saying.

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, - Ephesians 1:13

After we presented God with our natural faith (belief) God responded by giving us His faith (the Holy Ghost). The faith of God is the power of God to perform His will. If we have His faith we simply have to allow Him to work in and through us.

So where does belief come into play for the sons of God?

We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. - 2 Corinthians 4:13-14

Consider this. The church is often called the born again believers. Even the scripture calls us the believers. Why is this so? We have already believed. If we did not believe, we would not have received the Holy Spirit. In addition, now that we have the Holy Spirit, we have a witness within us, that proves to us that the things of God are real. Thus, we naturally believe.

...We believe and therefore speak...

If we did not believe in God and HIs promises then we would not be preachers of them.

..Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you...

The Spirit of faith (Holy Ghost), causes us to know and be confident of all the promises of God (things hoped for and things unseen). We are confident that God will resurrect us and cause us to live forever. We are the believers!

Thus, if we are believers, once again the question has to be asked, where does belief come into play for the sons of God?

The sons of God must believe in the work that God has done in them through salvation. They must believe that they are new creatures indeed, and have truly overcome sin. As long as they do not believe in the work of God, they will never allow the faith of God to operate through them.

I will be keen to show you many scriptures that teach this point. You will begin to see faith like never before. So see you next week, as we learn what our favourite scriptures were talking about all along.
