John 12:23-24
23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
Here, Jesus is ministering a brilliant analogy of the correlation between Him and the Church. He is as a corn of wheat that fell into the ground through death. However, when He came out of the earth, He came up as a whole other thing. He came up as the head of His body the Church. He is now a whole body of people - the sons of God.
Thus if we are to understand the gifts of the Spirit we must recognize that the manifestation of each gift is the manifestation of Christ Himself. No flesh can glory in His sight, because it is Christ who works the gifts through all flesh. Thus, to be subject to Apostolic Order, is to be subject to the governance of the Spirit of Christ, as opposed to a person.
1 Corinthians 12:7-11
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
