All That's In the World

1 John 2:15-16
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
I have heard this verse of scripture ministered many times, and it is typically used to show sinners why they should come out of sin. It is also preached to the saints as a warning to explain why they should never turn from God. Usually, all that's in the world, refers to clubbing, smoking, fornication, the whole 9 yards. However, yesterday God showed me the true depths of this scripture.
Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
This is a deep scripture, however, it speaks to our salvation. Our souls now live in the Holy Spirit. Hence we are described as not living in the world, because our souls are directly in Christ. It is Christ whoever who dwells in and owns our bodies, but we live in His Spirit. Our union with Him allows us to feel what He feels, see what He sees, etc, as He dwells in our bodies.
When God showed me the depths of this scripture, I saw myself hidden inside of Christ, in a way that I could not see anything else, but every now and then I was trying to get out. I wanted to peep out, and see what was in the world. However, to do that I had to chide against something He wanted me to do. He wanted me to stay hidden in Him, but I wanted to experience the world. I wanted the chance to be "me" and not Him.
Any time you disobey God, no matter how small in your eyes, you are walking in a lust of the eye or flesh or of the pride of life. In other words, all that is in the world, simply means all that is outside of Christ. Let us walk in obedience to the Spirit at all times.
