Focus on the Family

Focus on the family

To start our journey through the Old Testament, we begin in Genesis. Interestingly, before there was what we know to be "the beginning", God already had his entire plan of the world and its events thought out. God, imagined every single possibility for each and every one of our lives. He desired a people, he wanted a family and the events from Genesis to Revelations outline the most important and most beautiful love story-the story of redemption.

When we hear of the creation story many think of the tree, the garden, and the fall, and it can seem as if the enemy’s plan was victorious because man sinned and was put on a path of darkness. However, from Chapter 3, we see the beginning of God’s plan:

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

In the judgment God makes to the serpent, Adam, and Eve, we see that he says the “offspring of the woman will crush the head of the serpent”. In other words, the offspring would eventually triumph over the serpent. From this point on, we see just how God intends to rescue his creation, for out of the fall comes His children. He later on sets aside a people (Israel) who will bring forth who we know to be Jesus, our Lord and Saviour. There is truly none like our God.
