Drowning - Discerning Faith Series

Matthew 14:30-31

[30] But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. [31] And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Jesus is simply an awesome person. His standard is belief, however, He will do whatever it takes to bring us to the place of belief. Some of us have been going in cycles as it relates to Church. One day we’re up and ready for the Holy Ghost, the other day we’re down and want nothing to do with church or people.

Sometimes the devil won’t allow us to admit the cry we have in our hearts for God. We try to drown it all out with attitudes that shout “I don’t care” when truly we wonder why? Why after all this time am I still not saved? Am I actually worth it? It’s in these times you are a drowning Peter.

Let me be the hand of Jesus that will snatch you from the deep. The truth is, salvation is one of the biggest life decisions you could ever make. It means no more you or your way. You must totally give over your life. But if you are not ready to give your life to the Lord, He will not forcefully take it.

There are times when we cry out to the Lord, knowing we are not totally ready for Him. We may be able to deceive everyone else but we cannot deceive the Lord. He knows your heart. He sees you drowning, but the answer is still the same before you gave up. You must surrender to God, you must believe upon Him.

Give Him your life and let Him change it all around. Give Him your nothing and watch Him make it into something. You are special to God. He wants you. Give over to Him today.

Activity: Do you feel like God is ignoring you? Discuss it with a friend. If not, encourage someone who may be down today.
