"Come" - Pt. 2 - Discerning Faith Series

Matthew 14:25-29 KJV

[25] And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. [26] And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. [27] But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. [28] And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. [29] And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

The Word "Come" created a bridge to the impossible. When the Word came out of Jesus' mouth as long as Peter believed, the waters would have been as rock. But that's the thing, Jesus spoke it; and His Word demanded a response from him. Jesus did not walk to the boat and take Peter by the hand. Rather, Peter himself had to respond to the the word of the Lord.

There are many to whom God is saying come. He is not going to come to get you, rather you must come to Him. You have to step out of the boat and come to Him. He sent His son to die on the cross to make coming to Him possible; however, you must respond to the cross by seeking after Him.

Believing on the God for the Holy Ghost takes vulnerability. By this, I mean, it takes you placing all your trust in what God has said, even if it seems to make you look like a fool. Even if you think you have tried it before. There is no fear where there is belief. If you are fearful to totally believe that God will see about you immediately, your unbelief will prevent God from responding to your cry. You must silence every voice that would make God a liar and believe on Him.

You even as Peter must believe on the word spoken of the Lord. What is the word?

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7:38). His word is that if you believe on Him you shall be saved. So, step out of the boat of yourself, and reach out to Jesus with your faith. Hold Him to His word, because He is not a liar. Believe that He is faithful to His word that He is faithful to you. It doesn't matter what you have done, there is none that has trusted in the Lord and have been let down.

God is bidding you come? Will you step out of the boat?

Activity: If you are seeking the Holy Ghost, go to a quiet place and ask the Lord to fill you with His Holy Spirit, and trust that He will. If you already have the Holy Ghost, minister to somebody today for them to be filled with the Holy Ghost.
