"Come" - Discerning Faith Series

Matthew 14:25-29 KJV

[25] And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. [26] And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. [27] But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. [28] And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. [29] And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

This is an iconic scripture concerning belief. Peter saw Jesus walking on the water and desired to do the same. However, why? Why did Peter want to walk on the water? Well he asked "if it be thou bid me come". In other words if you truly are the son of God I should be able to walk on water according to your word.

Jesus responded saying "Come". The word of Jesus is what made the miracle of Peter walking on water possible. It is this same word that He has spoken concerning you. Unto you is the gospel preached, teaching that He died on the cross for your sins, and is awaiting you to accept Him. He is bidding you come, but will you walk on water? Will you step on the waters of uncertainty, fear, doubt, voices of procrastination, and lies. Will you walk on the waters of the voice of the enemy that tells you you will never be saved and that you are not worthy? Will you ignore all of that and simply go to Him because He bid you come?

He is bidding you to come right now. If you believe on Him with your whole heart you will be saved. Do not have any reservations. Don't allow the waves of doubt to cause you to take your eyes off Jesus. Trust Him, because He cannot lie. So, Jesus is speaking to you now; He is saying "Come".

Do you trust God totally? Discuss your response with a friend.
