GOD NEVER ORDAINED A WOMAN TO TEACH OR HAVE AUTHORITY OVER THE MAN.
No doubt this is taken once again “out of context” from Paul’s instructions to Timothy.
I Timothy 2:11-15
11 Let the woman (wife) learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer (allow) not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in child bearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
Do not forget, the Word will never contradict itself. Neither would Paul preach a message to one church and then totally contradict himself in his delivery to another.
Paul, again is dealing with the domestic relationship between a husband and his wife. He declares he does not allow a wife to instruct her husband by the usurping of authority. He implicates that in the perfect order of a marital relationship the husband is the head of his wife and children. If we look closer at this passage, we just might discern what was in the mind of the apostle.
USURP: (Strong’s index #831, Thayer & Vines) One who does a thing of himself. One who acts on his own authority to govern or exercise dominion over another.
By using the terminology “usurp authority,” Paul warns that the wife is not to take it upon herself to instruct her husband but is to learn the things of God in silence (with a quiet spirit) and in subjection to her husband. He goes on to declare his reason for such an attitude. He notes that Adam was not deceived but his wife, Eve, was. Being deceived, she was found in the transgression. Women, this is a most noteworthy point Paul makes here. Eve was in the transgression, meaning she was contained and affected by the power and influence of the transgression itself. She enjoyed the effects of the sin, chose not to repent but enticed her husband to partake. Because of this, Paul declares she is to maintain a quiet spirit and not one of forwardness. He is really demanding she not live out of her emotions, desires or appetites. While she learns of the things of God, she is to maintain a posture of “quietness,” doing her own work and not officiously meddling in the affairs of the husband.
Some maintain Paul was a male chauvinist because of this passage and claims he never recognized a woman’s ministry. This is totally a ludicrous statement seeing as how he used so many women in His own ministry and acknowledged those who were not a part of his reformation.
In actuality, Paul is putting the work of the Holy Ghost in the domestic setting. Before we jump to conclusions regarding his attitude toward the woman or wife, let us read the conclusion of the matter.
In the 15th verse he comes forth with an astounding declaration.
“Notwithstanding she shall be saved through child bearing”.
Ladies, Paul comes through for us. Note that he says, not withstanding or nevertheless, or better still, she shall be delivered (saved) from this docile existence by the birth (not of children) according to the original Greek writings, but by the birth of the divine nature of the seed (Word) which is planted in her. Even the Amplified Bible bears witness to this.
(Amplified I Timothy 2:15)
Nevertheless the sentence out upon the woman of pain in motherhood does not hinder their soul’s salvation, and they will be saved if they continue in faith and love and holiness with self-control, [saved indeed] through the CHILDBEARING or by the birth of the divine child.
If she continues in faith (the operation of the Holy Ghost in her), charity (the spirit of love) and Holiness (having been made acceptable unto God) with sobriety (soundness of mind, self-control and a purifying of her desires) then, and only then, is she allowed to take part in the administration of the spiritual guidance of her home.
